One of the most important things to do as Christians is to spend time reading the words of Jesus Christ. Not just the Bible, no. We need to go to the source and fountain of God’s purest teaching, Jesus Christ. It’s crucial that you make dedicated time to hear or read Jesus’ words every week in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They are the words of life.
Jesus Christ is the single greatest teacher of God’s word in all of the Bible. His words are authoritative and binding. No other writer in the Old Testament or New Testament can compare with Jesus. The Gospel of John declares that Jesus is the Word of God. Hebrews 1:1-3 tells us that, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son… The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” (NIV translation, emphasis mine).
This blog will primarily focus upon the importance of Jesus’ words. Sometimes, there may be posts related to other topics. However, the primary purpose of this blog is to help readers understand Jesus’ words more fully, to come to new insights about his teaching, and to help disciple readers to be better followers of Jesus. It’s the most important thing for us to do as Christians.
